Re-Launching The Borderless, Unkillable Crypto-Fiat Gateway, DAIHard. Enter or Exit Crypto via Any Fiat and Any Payment Method, Anywhere in the World, Without KYC. All you need is a little Dai.

Some of you might recall recall our initial facepalm failed launch about 3 months ago (post-mortem here). Well, we're back--this time with an audit and some new features. This version of DAIHard should should die a little harder this time ;)

The Audit

After shopping around a bit in the auditor space, we decided to go with Adam Dossa--the very same Adam Dossa that actually found our launch vulnerability and responsibly disclosed it to us! You can see his report here. By the way, Adam has been a gem: friendly, professional, timely, and flexible. Definitely keep him in mind if you need an audit!

(Re)Introducing DAIHard

Following is an updated version of our original launch post. If you've already read that, you might want to skip to the heading What's New in v0.9.2. Or you can go straight to the app or go to our info site for more info!
Here is a legitimate concern most of us are familiar with:
To enter or exit the crypto economy, we rely on centralized exchanges such as Coinbase, which track their users, impose limits, and are tightly coupled to their jurisdiction and its banking system. And for all we know, any day now regulations could start tightening these controls further (*we've actually seen some of this play out in the two months since our first launch post). In light of this, can we say in any meaningful sense that crypto is anonymous, limtiless, borderless, immune to regulation, and (most importantly) unstoppable?
To really address this concern, we need a completely decentralized gateway between fiat and crypto: something that extends the benefits of crypto to the very act of moving between the old and new economies. But the design of such a platform is far from obvious.
(Localethereum comes close, but as discussed under Unkillable, it doesn't quite cut it. And Bisq is decentralized, but has significant UX hurdles.)
We believe we've found a solution. We are proud to present:

DAIHard v0.9.2 - Almost Definitely Not Broken This Time

If you want to jump right in, we recommend first watching our latest usage demo (7 min), then diving in and giving it a shot with a small amount of Dai. (Try it on Kovan first if mainnet is too scary!)
DAIHard extends many of the promises of crypto (borderless, anonymous, limitless, unstoppable) into the exchange mechanism itself, allowing anyone, anywhere to bypass centralized exchanges and the control they impose.
More concretely, DAIHard is a platform, run on smart contracts, for forming one-off crypto/fiat exchanges with other users, in which:
Again, our latest usage demo (7 min) shows this process in action.

Two drawbacks

You Need either xDai, or both Dai and Ether, to Use The Tool (At Least For Now)

If you want to buy Dai on DAIHard, you must already have Dai--1/3 of the amount you want to purchase--to put up as a burnable deposit. For example, if you only have 10 Dai now, you can only commit to buying 30 Dai, and must complete that trade before using the newly bought Dai to open up a bigger offer (for up to 120 Dai that time).
Most tragically of course, this means that if you don't already have some crypto, you can't use this tool to get crypto--this is why we avoid calling DAIHard an onramp specifically. This comes from the fact that both parties must have "skin in the game" for the game theory to work, and a smart contract can only threaten to burn crypto.
We have some ideas on how to address this drawback in the not-too-distant future, which we'll write about soon. For now it's time to launch this thing and get some users!

Dangerous and Scary To Use

In rare cases, a user may have to burn Dai and face a loss on the entire trade amount. The necessity of this ever-present risk is explained in detail in DAIHard Game Theory.
However, a cautious, rational user can gather information (possibly via our [subreddit](daihard)!) about how people have used the tool, successfully and unsuccessfully. They can then create a buy or sell offer with wisely chosen settings based on what has worked for others. Other cautious, rational users can find this offer and commit to the trade if they dare. We expect the vast majority of committed trades should involve rational, cautious users, and should therefore resolve happily.
Still, inevitably there will be sloppy trades that result in burns. As the tool is used, we'll be keeping a close eye on the frequency of burns and keeping you guys updated (perhaps via a "System Status" utility similar to the one found on MakerDao's explorer). In the end, though, we expect the risk in using DAIHard to be comparable to the risk of using any exchange or DNM: ever-present but low enough for the platform to be useful as whole.
So, while DAIHard will never shut down and can't perform an exit scam, the bad news is it's not risk-free. Users will have to approach DAIhard with the same level of caution they would with any new exchange (albeit for different reasons and with a different approach).
So what's the good news?

The Good News

While these drawbacks are significant, they enable some remarkable features that no other crypto/fiat exchange mechanism can boast.

Unkillable

(Correction: Bisq seems to have a decentralized arbitration system)
We are aware of no other crypto/fiat exchange platform that is truly unkillable. Bisq and localethereum comes close, but both localethereum relies on centralized processes of arbitration. This means their fraud-and-scam-prevention system can be sued, jailed, or otherwise harrassed--and if that part stops working, it doesn't matter how decentralized the rest of the system was.
DAIHard, in contrast, gives the users the power to police and punish each other, via the aforementioned credible threat of burn. This is simple game theory, and the rules of this game are etched permanently into the DAIHard Factory and Trade contract code: impervious to litigation, regulation, and political pressure.
This Factory contract has no owner and no suicide or pause code. It cannot be stopped by us or anyone else.
Like Toastycoin, this thing was immortal the moment it was deployed (even more immortal than RadarRelay, for example, which does rely on an ownership role). Both DAIHard and Toastycoin (and probably whatever we build next) will last for as long as a single Ethereum node continues mining, and it will remain easy to use as long as someone can find the HTML/JS front-end and a web3 wallet.
(The HTML/JS front-end (built in Elm, by the way, with the lovely elm-ethereum!) is currently hosted on Github pages, which is centralized--but even if Github takes down the page and deletes the code, it's a minor step to get the page hosted on IPFS, something that is on our near-term roadmap in any case)

No KYC, No Limits

It's smart contracts all the way down, so DAIHard never asks any nosy questions--if you have Metamask or some other web3 wallet installed and set up, with some ETH and Dai (or just xDai), you can immediately open or commit to a trade. You don't even need a username!
(In fact, we're so inclusive, even machines are allowed--no CAPTCHA here!)
You're limited only by the collateral you put up, so if you have 10,000 Dai you could open up a buy offer for 30,000 Dai (or a sell offer for 10,000 Dai) right now.
We do reccommend trying the tool out first with a small amount of Dai... But we're not your mom! Do what you want!

Borderless

It simply doesn't matter where you are, because DAIHard doesn't need to interface with any particular jurisdiction or payment system to work. DIAHard works by incentivizing people (or robots?) to navigate the particular real-world hurdles of bank transfers, cash drops, or other fiat transfer methods. These incentives work whether you're in America, Zimbabwe, or the Atlantic; they work whether the fiat is USD, EUR, ZAR, seashells, or Rai Stones; and they work whether your counterparty is a human, an organization, a script, or a particularly intelligent dog with Internet access.

Any Fiat Type, and Highly Customizeable

Here are some examples of the types of trades you might create or find on DAIHard.
As the DAIHard community grows, users will doubtless find much more creative ways to use the system, and we will discover together which types of trades are reliable and which are more risky. Because users can set their own prices and phase timeout settings, we expect the risky trades to charge a premium or have longer time windows, while the reliable ones rapidly multiply at close to a 1:1 price ratio, with quick turnaround times.

Extensible (with profit) by Third Parties

Not satisfied with our interface? Do you have some nifty idea for how to display and organize user reputation? Or maybe some idea for how trades could be chained togeher? Maybe you'd like to design a notification system for DAIHard? Maybe you just want a different color scheme!
Well, you won't need our permission to do any of this. Any tool that watches the same Factory contract will share the pool of trades, regardless of which tool actually creates the trade. This means we don't even have to fight over network effects!
And if you look closely at our fee structure, you might notice that only half of the 1% DAIHard fee is "hardcoded" into the Factory contract. The other half is set and charged by our interface. What does this mean for you? If you go out and make a better interface, you can essentially replace half of our 1% fee with your own fee--it's up to you whether it's smaller or larger than the replaced 0.5%.
The reason for this is to explicitly welcome other developers to extend what we've built. For as long as our team is the only one improving the platform, a threat to us is a threat to future upgrades. But if others begin extending the DAIHard platform too, then DAIHard will not only be unstoppable as it is today, but also grow unstoppably.

(For Real This Time) This Is a Big Fucking Deal

DAIHard is a turning point in crypto and a breakthrough in decentralized markets, and is an irreversible augmentation of the Ethereum platform.
What we've built is a gateway to crypto completely devoid of centralized components--rendering entry and exit to crypto unkillable, flexible, borderless, and private. Centralized exchanges, and the control they impose, can now be bypassed by anyone with Dai and a web3 wallet.

What's New in v0.9.2

There have been many changes made since our first failed launch, but there are two rather important ones: xDai support and reputation tools.

xDai support

DAIHard is now operational on xDai, a sidechain whose native token (xDai) is pegged to the Dai (and therefore $1). Add the xDai network to your Metamask (or just install Nifty Wallet), then switch to the xDai network in your wallet, to try it out. xDai has some pretty incredible benefits, compared to vanilla Ethereum:

Reputation tools

We now have a few reputation tools. First, on any open trade, there is a widget showing the number of releases, aborts, and burns the given address has been involved in as that role (buyer or seller). Clicking on this expands the widget to show more detailed information, and also provides a link to a page that lists each trade this user has been or is involved in.

What's next?

We have tons of ideas on how to improve the product--too many, in fact, to commit to any before we get a good chunk of user feedback. Here are some of our favorite ideas:

Near-Term, Smaller Features

  1. Lots of usability improvements.
  2. A "System Status" utility similar to the one found on MakerDao's explorer).
  3. Marketplace / My Trades rework.
  4. A "QuickTrade" page, offering Trade Templates as an alternative to the current Create Offer page.

Big Exciting Features

  1. Bootstrapping people with no DAI via other mechanisms and community outreach.
  2. Partial commits to trades. eg. Place a 10,000 DAI trade and allow it to be picked up in blocks larger than 500 DAI at a time.
  3. More chains, get this thing working on Bitcoin via Rootstock, on Ethereum Classic and Binance Chain.

Stay Informed!

A lot of the above features will be prioritized more clearly as we get user feedback, and we will be posting fairly frequent updates and articles on our info site. If you don't want to miss anything, note the subscribe widget and sign up!

Hi everyone. Pleased to be here! Thank you for taking your time to join me.
I’m the Chief Business Development Officer for TomoChain.
Educationally I graduated university with degrees in both Industrial Engineering and Economics from Georgia Tech, and later earned an MBA from the Wharton School of Business.
I grew up as a gaming addict and have a video game collection that is a bit unwieldy. Dozens of consoles and, at one point, over 13 classic arcade machines.
So, before crypto, I spent much of my profession in the gaming space. I was a Game Designer, Game Producer, and eventually Studio Head for a major games studio that was recently purchased by Rockstar Games. I have run my own game-related tech businesses as well.
I fell into crypto back in 2014, and over time it became a second passion of mine as I began to truly understand the value of decentralization. True ownership of data was not possible until Bitcoin came along and that is simply a powerful and game-changing message to a world structure built on an opposing foundation.
Brief Introduction

TomoChain is a Public Blockchain powered by Proof-of-Stake Voting. TomoChain launched into Mainnet 1 year ago in December 2018. It is secured by 150 Masternodes, of which I’m proud to be an operator myself. TomoChain is EVM Compatible and runs at a speedy 2000 TPS with a 2 Sec Blocktime. Gas fees are almost zero too.
Based out of Vietnam, TomoChain is Southeast Asia’s largest public blockchain. We are focusing on developing a full suite of DeFi products. We also have commercial and enterprise clients. TomoChain has a number of major crypto-partnerships including notables like Neo Blockchain, Chainlink and Crypto.com. Our Masternode network is run by some of the most recognizable players in the space as well, including Neo Global Capital, CoinGecko, HashQuark, KuCoin, and more large players are on the way.
TomoChain earned its place onto Binance.com with a fee-free listing last year by winning the BinanceDEX community vote in August 2019. Binance has written us up in a detailed Binance Research Report and awarded us the V-Label. We have also been in a number of their reports, including those related to Dapps and DeFi. We have been interviewed by Forbes.com official and had an in-person interview at NASDAQ, in the heart of Times Square, about TomoChain and our upcoming TomoX Protocol.
In China, specifically, we have been integrated into and have solid relationships with various blockchain players including HashQuark, HashKey, CoboWallet, Conflux, and many others. We launched an Ecosystem Development partnership with Neo Blockchain last December and co-hosted a meetup + workshop with them as well.

GEARED FOR REAL WORLD USE
Now, let’s talk about how TomoChain has been built for real-world use.
We’re looking at Payments & DeFi as low hanging fruit when it comes to user adoption and TomoChain is developing a suite of tools to support this. The biggest challenge for having users benefit from Blockchain on a day-to-day basis is how much friction is involved to acquire, store and use it. Even stable coins are dual currency systems. The Stablecoin and then the Native Token to pay gas fees. Blockchain is simply not user-friendly.
Our view is that the true solution for Blockchain adoption by the world is end-users shouldn’t need to know they are using blockchain technology at all. It should be a hidden technology layer, similar to payment processor settlements or even the internet distribution centers/routers that power this very AMA we’re all participating in right now. Do we need to know the underlying technology infrastructure to use them? Nope.
We are developing a system to hide this friction, so the TomoChain blockchain can be integrated into real-world applications that you use every day on mobile or web.
There are 3 protocols that we are building to enable this future: (1) TomoZ: Zero Friction (2) TomoX: The DEX Protocol (3) TomoP: The Privacy Suite.

https://preview.redd.it/irwduto4m5t41.png?width=741&format=png&auto=webp&s=56e21c8e56b86af197344d7a043d073456c53181
TomoZ: Zero Friction - Our TomoZ protocol is a core starting point to the solution for mass market use of blockchain technology. TomoZ: Zero Friction allows for token issuance and use by having gas fees paid by the token itself. That means you don’t need TOMO to send transactions. You don’t even need to know you’re using the TomoChain blockchain.
So you could buy a cup of coffee at a café using loyalty points that are TomoZ tokens. The customers redeem for their coffee or earn it, but they don’t even have to know it’s a blockchain token which they actually own.
This approach is structured to enable the next million-plus users to utilize blockchain as a technology layer. After all, the real value of any Blockchain is in its utilization of high-quality transactions.
Now, TomoZ transactions aren’t FREE. It actually does use TOMO, but that’s hidden from the end-user. The way it works is that the token issuer deposits a small amount of TOMO into a pool. Every time the token is sent, TOMO is taken from this pool to pay the Masternodes.
The key is that the end-user doesn’t need to get involved with internal workings, which is why we call it the Zero Friction protocol
Now let’s talk about TomoX: The DEX Protocol
TomoX is an upcoming DEX Protocol that allows anyone to launch their on permissionless Decentralized Exchange in minutes. It requires very little technical knowledge making it a near turn-key solution.
TomoX is the fastest DEX experience since it’s a Layer 1 protocol. This means it’s run and secured by the entire TomoChain network. Our Masternodes manage the DEX instructions directly, rather than other DEXs that operate as a Layer 2 protocol. What this means is TomoX DEXs will operate at about 50x faster than a typical 0x exchange. That significantly improves the end-user experience.
TomoX DEX operators have access to a shared liquidity pool across all DEXs. That means a user buying on one DEX can be matched with a user selling on another DEX. Of course, Operators can customize and choose which tokens to include.
TomoX is fully decentralized since the Order Book is on-chain. Many other semi-decentralized exchanges store the OB on a centralized service in order to speed up the execution. That means there is a centralized point of weakness for them. TomoX minimizes custody and security challenges that centralized exchanges have too since all users are always in possession of their assets.
TomoX is currently in testnet and you can checkout TomoChain’s own DEX, aptly called TomoDEX, here: https://dex.testnet.tomochain.com/
Here is a link to get some free Testnet TOMO that can be used on the testnet version of TomoDEX: https://faucet.testnet.tomochain.com/
And finally, there is TomoP: Privacy Suite - TomoP is currently in testnet and is going to be the FASTEST way to send tokens privately. 2-4 seconds fast!
Any token issued on TomoChain will be able to utilize TomoP to send privately and anonymously. And that’s not all. We are including access to wrapped BTC, ETH, USDT, and other tokens that can also utilize the blazing speed and privacy that TomoP will offer.
Dapp privacy is a major part of TomoP. It is going to allow for the creation of Dapps to be built to handle customer data with true privacy, including from the Dapp operators themselves. This can jumpstart a new wave of applications geared towards hiding user information, transactions, assets owned, etc.
We are issuing a new token standard (TRC21p) which will be purely private. The only data available will be on its token supply. Token issuers can optionally provide auditing access to enforcement authorities to meet regulatory compliance. What this means is if the next Global PayPal/Skrill/Alipay competitor can build their service right on TomoChain and meet the most basic criteria required to stay above board in many jurisdictions.

Questions from the host
1. It’s been stated that TomoChain was on track to be a cash flow positive business, is it currently cash flow positive? What services or products is it offering to bring in this revenue?
Yes, absolutely. Our plan is to be cash flow positive this year. This really goes back to the level of experience our executive team has. Everyone is seasoned, having come from different fields, in big business and startups. Before the crazy boom of ICOs and IEOs, raising funding for traditional startups required considerable proof that there was market fit, that there were actual customers to drive revenue, and a model for growth.
We knew that TomoChain’s funds raised during the ICO were for a space that has yet to prove itself so the company had to be smart in budgeting for an uncertain future. And part of that initial preparation was selling much of the ICO proceeds into fiat. Something MANY blockchain startups did not do, largely due to ambitious teams that are also headed by very inexperienced leaders. So while the bubble burst, we had capital to continue operations and to even scale it.
And, we ARE running a business. A sustainable business requires us to identifying areas to generate income in order to minimize risk and to sustain the business in the long term. So we do both consulting and services work by helping clients to develop wallets, launch tokens (Orbyt), build exchanges (AIS), and of course enterprise solutions on the blockchain of which we have clients based out of Japan and in the Middle East using blockchain for traceability solutions across various industries from automotive, healthcare, and food.
2. What is the most strategical step TOMO is doing to bring adoption of TOMO coin to our daily lives?
Empowering businesses with a truly scalable blockchain that can be used by thousands and millions of users. We see user adoption of blockchain coming from businesses that base their solutions on blockchain technology. And, TomoChain has a number of real income-generating companies that have built on us, from exchanges to payment services to enterprise clients. Not bad for 1 year I say, especially during a stagnant market. Here are some examples.
UcarPac – A Top 10 User Car company in Japan is building traceability solutions on the blockchain. We completed a POC at the end of last year. After the assessment, the client decided it was solid and commissioned Phase 2 to expand the development of the project for commercialization purposes
Triip Protocol – Triip is a destination service for travelers to book vacations powered by Blockchain. Triip is a Shark Tank Vietnam alumnus, and the first ICO on TomoChain. Users can book tours and staycations using Triip or TOMO tokens.
WisePass – A service that sells subscription services to get discounted Starbucks, Singha Beer, and even makeup (of all things) integrated TomoChain as a payment solution
“Undisclosed Vendor” – Soon to be announced, a large player in the corporate gift giving business is also launching a Dapp on TomoChain to allow for them to make purchases with TOMO across thousands of items.
Maka - A peer-to-peer marketplace to conveniently buy/sell TOMO and other blockchain tokens using standard payment gateways, including e-wallets and bank transfers.
Coin98 – A local Vietnam crypto media company launched an App to allow for their community to earn their TomoChain token called C98 and use it for products and services geared around investors and gamers. The reception has been HUGE. 95,000 users and generating 500K+ transactions on our blockchain within 3 months of their launch! They are proving that innovative new business models can be adopted relying on and being blockchain specific.

https://preview.redd.it/mlol3zl6m5t41.png?width=759&format=png&auto=webp&s=4a516404ed6a15de0e56fd08ed1e354a53c4191e
3. Do you have any plans to collaborate with developers or attract more Dapps built on TomoChain?
We are today. Our founders run the largest Blockchain Developer community in Vietnam and we work with a number of them to help develop solutions on the blockchain.
Our team has held Hackathons a few times over the last couple years and we have done developer workshops too, including one with Neo Blockchain. And this year we are working closely with educational institutions to launch blockchain courses in Vietnam.
Every Dapp developer we work with is a partner. We try to provide as much support as possible, both technical and marketing. A number of Dapps are games on TomoChain and we hold contests regularly to promote the developers and their titles.
Since we are focusing on alleviating the friction of blockchain technology, we are building out an API that will make it even easier for developers to integrate blockchain into standard applications. This is intended to allow standard non-blockchain application developers to operate in an environment they are accustomed to while also having the benefit of blockchain technology accessible.
Onboarding more developers will take time. However, I’m confident we’re on the cusp of something wonderful in the coming years that will change the relationship between users and applications enabled by blockchain. Entirely new economic structures can be set up since it’ll be the users owning all of their data for the first time in digital history. And true ownership is a powerful motivator that can be harnessed by innovative blockchain businesses.

TomoChain - Binance AMA Recap - In case you missed it!

TomoChain - Binance AMA Recap - In case you missed it!
TomoChain’s AMA with Binance was recently held on Oct. 19th, 2019 with CEO Long Vuong sharing all the latest updates about TomoChain’s products and potential future projects.

https://preview.redd.it/yz3h0tqgc2u31.jpg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1a888e829057030e17ea4cb67828afb2455c6811
*** Below is a brief recap of what happened during the AMA ***
Segment 1: Richie from Binance asked Long Vuong 5 questions.
Richie: Among different blockchains and cryptocurrency projects, what are some key features that set TomoChain aside? What does TomoChain have that other projects don’t?
Long: Some key features which set TomooChain aside include:
  • PoSV consensus: TomoChain uses an innovative consensus method called POSv (Proof of Stake Voting) which gives an incentive to all TomoChain token-holders to play an active part in staking across a network of 150 high-quality masternodes, and to monitor their performance and governance actively. Our staking-governance Dapp, TomoMaster, is recognized as one of the leading staking platforms in the industry. With our PoSV consensus protocol, TomoChain provides:
/ At least 2k TPS while still enhancing security through Double Validation.
/ 2-second block-time and transaction confirmed within almost 4-second.
/ Significantly improvement of user experiences and adoption of blockchain.
  • Double Validation and Randomization: Strengthens Tomochain’s security, reduces fork and nothing-at-stake attacks, and makes TomoChain unique among other Proof-of-Stake-based blockchains.
  • EVM compatible: Every Ethereum smart contract can be effectively run with almost instant transaction confirmation. Porting time:
/ From Ethereum to TomoChain.
/ 2From Tron to TomoChain: 8h.
  • Rich set of our own products: that enable a variety of platforms for end-users to interact seamlessly with blockchain technology, including TomoWallet, TomoMaster, TomoScan, TomoZ, TomoX.
/ TomoZ — Zero Friction Protocol — the first on-chain protocol that offers the ability for any user to pay transaction fees with the same token the user is holding.
/ TomoX — a secure and efficient relayer-masternode decentralized cryptocurrency exchange protocol that empowers a diverse system of relayers, MM providers, and independent projects to work together.
  • Privacy: Lastly, token privacy on TomoChain will be forth-coming in 2020, and the details for implementation will be revealed in due course.
Richie: Since mainnet’s launch 10 months ago, what are some key achievements for TomoChain? And does TomoChain has any plans to keep up with this productivity in the future?
Long: Since our mainnet launch, TomoChain has continuously built our ecosystem strong and stable, resulting in:
  • Being a stable chain running that can handle 2000 tx/s.
  • 50% TOMO staked in the smart-contract for the masternode governance system.
  • 16 active dapps build on top of TomoChain and almost 6000 monthly active users, with a variety of new games and dapps being created.
  • TomoZ’s mainnet launch, a protocol that allows users to pay transaction fees with their own native token without having to hold TOMO, as well as to help users create their own token in 2 minutes. After the launch, a number of token with TRC21 standards has been made through TomoIssuer.
Richie: Which area does TomoChain focus on at the moment? (DeFi, Dapps,..) and which products/projects are you developing to support it?
Long: TomoChain aims to build a safe and credible DeFi system that everyone can benefit from globally, with our recent launch of TomoZ — fees by any token protocol, our decentralized exchange protocol TomoX coming in a couple of weeks, and many more projects in plan for the future.
TomoChain opens up a wide playground for developers to creatively build their own dapps and games. We have an enthusiastic high-tech team that can support you with problems you may have while creating your product. TomoChain’s most recent Dappathon Competition just ended, with 9 final contestants who’ve brought a whole new gaming experience for our community. Thus, many new games are coming up on our platform, encouraging even more developers and game lovers to join. So keep an eye out to try out some of our new games!
Richie: TomoChain has launched TomoZ’s mainnet in August. Can you elaborate on the product and comment on the amount of interest with individuals/businesses you’re seeing in this product?
Long: TomoZ — Zero Friction Protocol — provides inroads to mainstream users who find crypto to be unnecessarily complex. It is the first on-chain protocol that offers the ability for any user to pay transaction fees with the same token that the user is holding.
TomoZ removes the friction of having to hold native blockchain coins/tokens to send to other wallets or to interact with dapps. Users/customers of all businesses using our solution will have a smooth experience without even knowing that they are using the blockchain and cryptocurrency technology.
Tokens issued with the TomoZ protocol follow a new standard called TRC-21 (TRC is the abbreviation of TomoChain Request for Comments). Everyone can create a TRC-21 token on TomoChain in a few clicks using TomoIssuer — a user-friendly token issuance dashboard. No need to spend thousands of USD hiring blockchain developers.
For DeFi apps, TomoZ can be tailored for issuing stablecoins. Digital wallets and payment systems can be set up via TomoZ protocol very fast and cost-effectively.
Richie: The testnet of your flagship product — TomoX — the DEX protocol is to be rolled out soon. What sets TomoX apart from other DEX protocols?
Long: TomoX Testnet is to be launched in a couple of weeks. TomoX Protocol is our relayer-masternode decentralized cryptocurrency exchange protocol. Compared to the current state of the art DEX architecture, TomoX Protocol has quite a lot of advantages, which have been described in detail in our paper (http://bit.ly/33EgSl7), the most notable are as follows:
  1. Performance: TomoX Protocol is integrated into the core TomoChain blockchain consensus layer, which can potentially handle many thousands of transactions per second. Furthermore, with the Relayer-Masternode architecture, the heavy computational load of the matching engine in masternodes can be substantially moved to Relayers’ local matching engine. Performance of the TomoX Protocol can therefore potentially be an improvement when compared to most of the existing DEXs.
  2. Liquidity: This is a chicken and egg problem. Traders do not join most of the existing DEXs because there are not enough orders on these DEXs to match. With the Relayer-Masternode architecture, each relayer can focus on understanding their relevant markets and trading pairs — thus the potential for better and targeted marketing strategies to attract more traders to participate in the ecosystem.
  3. Full decentralization: Most of the existing DEXs are semi-decentralized. TomoX Protocol, on the other hand, is fully decentralized because the order book database, matching engine and trade execution mechanism is decentralized to all masternodes. This decentralization power in TomoX can significantly reduce front-running risks that currently appear in some centralized exchanges or semi-decentralized exchanges.
  4. Security: Centralized exchanges can have significant security issues as they centrally manage a large of amount of assets, and traders on centralized exchanges do not have control of their private keys. TomoX and non-custodial exchanges solve this problem because the users have complete control of their assets. In practice, some DEXs require traders to deposit their assets, while TomoX does not impose this requirement, and is completely non-custodial regarding user assets.
  5. Cost: TomoChain provides near-zero transaction fees, which significantly reduces trading fees compared to most existing DEXs.
SEGMENT 2 — Long asks questions to the chat. Each question is linked with a google form, which will be accepting answers in 3 minutes.
Q1: When was TomoChain listed on Binance?
August 24th, 2019.
Q2: Which TOMO trading pairs are available on Binance.com?
TOMO/BNB, TOMO/BTC, TOMO/USDT and TOMO/USDC.
Q3: What is the name of TomoChain’s consensus?
PoSV — Proof of Stake Voting.
Q4: Name TomoChain’s most recent product and its mainnet launching date?
TomoZ — August 20th, 2019.
Q5: The testnet of which TomoChain’s product will soon be launched?
TomoX.
SEGMENT 3 — Chat asked Long questions. 3 Rounds of questions opened up, and Long chose 5 questions from each round the answer. Below are some of the highlighted questions Long gave answers to:
Q1: Vietnam has very few successful projects, what is the problem? Does TomoChain have any plans to support other projects in Vietnam and contribute to building a stronger Vietnamese community?
Long: I consider TOMO and TomoChain being in a very good term right now, given that we have a strong and decentralized community of Masternodes and stakers securing the chain 24/24 every single day. Furthermore, good things take time to happen, even Bitcoin took a few years to create strong values. Comparatively, TomoChain would need more time to develop and mature, expanding our reputation and values to the world.
Q2: If Ethereum figures out their scaling issues, then projects like Tomo will not be able to compete. How will you respond to it?
Long: That’s no issue actually. There are other dimensions to compare that TomoChain still proves to have advantage on, such as blocktime. TomoChain has a 2 second blocktime while Ethereum’s is about 15s, which makes TomoChain more suitable for gaming and other activities that need fast interaction. Also, target audience and the community usage of the network can be very different too.
Q3: Among some technology key points such as: Sidechain, Privacy, Shardchain, how far are Tomochain going in each aspects at the moment? What are your main focus in terms of technology at the moment?
Long: Side-chain technology is doable (can be designed and built) but we focus on the mainchain at the moment. Sharding has some serious drawbacks as inter shard communication can break smart-contract composability and this is a very serious issue. The next major research area we are working on is privacy.
Q4: TomoChain has so many outstanding features in the form of TOMO WALLET, TOMO MASTER, TOMO SCAN, etc. to name a few. But, do you have real users and partners that use your services and what marketing strategies do you have to draw new users as without marketing no matter how good the product is nobody cares?
AIS-X generated its AIS token with the TRC21 standard on TomoChain. Can you elaborate more on this and its purpose?
Is the number 150 high-quality masternodes fixed or dynamic?
Long: We do have a variety of real users using our products on a daily basis. For example: TomoWallet has around 1000 daily active users, which mean around 1000 people open the app and do something every single day. The number has actually been quite stable for the last few months. Moreover, I feel that the crypto space is still very small, so TomoChain and other crypto and blockchain projects are trying our best to push the number of users. Of course the more the merrier. So my invitation to all of you to download the app and spend sometimes with TomoChain community :)
Q5: Ethereum developers seem to be loyal (or stubborn if you prefer) to Ethereum and might wait for Ethereum to scale because I haven’t seen any major ETH dapp switching to Tomochain (or other blockchain project), so how will Tomochain persuade/attract blockchain developers (solidity developers specifically) to build on Tomochain or migrate their dapps from Eth to Tomo? Assuming that the need for higher TPS in the dapps will trigger this onboarding of developers might not work necessarily and is too passive of a strategy IMO. For example, Thundercore protocol is also EVM compatible & faster (1200 TPS) than Ethereum but solidity developers are not building there either. So what’s Tomochain/Tomoteam strategy in this regard?
Long: I don’t believe in bribing or buying developers (from Ethereum or elsewhere) to build on TomoChain. It is not the way to build an authentic community. We want to build a community with real interests and determination to help grow TomoChain ecosystem. Thus, till now, we fortunately have been working with some awesome teams such as TomoSwap, PigFarm etc. Our goal is to continue to build reliable products, and increase users experience when it comes to blockchain in general, and join TomoChain specifically.

Stellar Lumens vs Other Cryptocurrencies
Lumens vs. Bitcoin: Jed McCaleb spoke at Distributed Markets in 2017 about the advantages, but more importantly, the disadvantages of Bitcoin. Listen to the talk here. Jed said, “Bitcoin is this awesome innovation. The first thing it does is converts a real world resource, electricity, into a digital asset. So it takes something from the real world and puts it into the digital realm. The second thing it does is provides immutable public record. It’s basically a database that everyone can see but no one change arbitrarily… That’s great, Bitcoin solves the double spin problem [ of proving possession and transmitting volume]… [However, to fix the problems of bitcoin] you might think well maybe we’ll just kind of keep adding [software] to Bitcoin until we get there, but that’s not really the way software works. You want to have the design from the beginning and solve these simple issues. Bitcoin was designed to be a new currency, it wasn’t really designed to be this unifying universal payment network. So that’s what Stellar does. It solves these three remaining issues.”
Lumens vs. Bitcoin #2: According to wired.com, "Bitcoin mining guzzles energy - and it's carbon footprint just keeps growing." Wired says "Today, each bitcoin transaction requires the same amount of energy used to power nine homes in the US for one day... The total energy use of this web of hardware is huge—an estimated 31 terawatt-hours per year. More than 150 individual countries in the world consume less energy annually. And that power-hungry network is currently increasing its energy use every day by about 450 gigawatt-hours, roughly the same amount of electricity the entire country of Haiti uses in a year." Because Stellar is based on a consensus algorithm rather than mining, it takes much less energy to run the Stellar network. The Poseidon Foundation decided to build their platform on Stellar rather than Ethereum or Bitcoin because of this (twitter source).
Lumens ICO tokens vs. Ethereum ICO tokens: According to Stellar.org, "traditionally, ICO tokens have been issued on the Ethereum network in the form of ERC20 tokens. ERC20 tokens are easy to issue and are infinitely customizable using Ethereum’s smart contracting language. However, recent events have highlighted and exacerbated some weaknesses of the network, including slow transaction processing times for the network during ICOs and increasingly expensive gas prices (by fiat standards) for transactions and smart contract execution. Moreover, many organizations require only basic tokens; they adopt the risk of Ethereum’s Turing complete programming language without taking advantage of many of its benefits."
"While Ethereum has the most expressive programming capabilities, we believe Stellar is the best choice for ICOs that do not require complex smart contracts. Stellar’s primary goal is to facilitate issuing and trading tokens, especially those tied to legal commitments by known organizations, such as claims on real-world assets or fiat currency."
Stellar vs. Ethereum #2: The median transaction time on Stellar is 5 seconds, compared to approximately 3.5 minutes on Ethereum (source). Stellar has a negligible transaction fee (.00001 XLM ~= $0.0000002) with no gas fee for computation, while depending on the complexity of the computation, the median cost for a transfer on the Ethereum network is $0.094. Security: While both Stellar and Ethereum run on a decentralized network, the Stellar network has fewer security pitfalls. Stellar uses atomic transactions comprised of simple, declarative operations while Ethereum uses turing complete programming capabilities which produces less auditable code and greater risk of exploitable vulnerabilities (source). Recently, a security flaw in the Ethereum network froze millions of dollars. According to Mobius ariticle written by David Gobaud, "On November 6, 2017, Github user deveps199 'accidentally' triggered a bug in Parity, a popular Ethereum mult-sig wallet, that froze more than $152 million in Ether across 151 addresses. The bug impacted several token sales including Polkadot, which has had ~$98 million out of its recent $145 million sale frozen."
"Mobius had none of its ongoing pre-sale Ether frozen because we do not trust Ethereum’s Smart Contract based multi-sig wallets given the vast Turing complete attack surface and did not use one. Security broadly is one of the main reasons the MOBI token that powers the DApp Store is a Stellar Protocol token and not an Ethereum token."
Lumens vs. Ripple: According to Wall Street Bitcoin Exchange, "Many investors like to compare the company [Stellar] to Ripple, and there are a lot of similarities, being that some of the founders worked on the Ripple team. In what can now be looked at as another blockchain development drama that plays out on chat boards and in interviews all across the globe. Stellar declared they fixed Ripple’s problems with their hard fork, however, Ripple has failed to admit to any of the flaws in its design that the Stellar team has pointed out." The article concludes by saying, "We Choose XLM Over XRP For 2018. That is why we are going with Stellar Lumens over Ripple in our portfolio for the rest of 2017 and 2018. After holding Ripple for a long time this year, it just never seems to make the big break like other names with bigger market caps like Bitcoin Cash, Dash, and Litecoin have. While we are holding on most all our larger market caps, we feel that Stellar Lumens will be one of the break out coins for 2018."
.
.
Conclusion
The stellar.org team is doing an amazing job making partnerships and pioneering the use of blockchain technology for various types of transactions. What we are seeing is a new technology that can actually be used to solve real-world problems. As a community, we need to continue supporting Stellar and we will quickly see it power transactions across the world. What are your thoughts about Stellar? What do you see in the future of Stellar? Since early-July, the Bitcoin price has entered into a drawn-out lull, with there being a clearly tightening trade range that has resulted in Bitcoin’s realized volatility falling into a range of 1.2%/day. Here’s Why Not only is volatility decreasing but so are volumes.out that CME’s BTC futures saw their lowest volumes in four months, implying indirection in this market.
This declining volume in the CME BTC futures market has been echoed over in the spot market. According to CoinMarketCap, cryptocurrency exchanges in aggregate have processed $51 billion worth of trades over the past 24 hours, which is a far cry from the $120+ billion seen during late-June and early-July of this very year. Sure, the data site is known not to be 100% accurate, but the decline in registered crypto volume accentuates the consolidatory period that Bitcoin is in.
But this lull might be about to come to an abrupt end.

Buy TRON (TRX) easy! Rating services

Buy TRON (TRX) easy! Rating services

https://preview.redd.it/jr4rcqri7fc31.png?width=1500&format=png&auto=webp&s=e1f6f2492b5047774829e0882af09b6b2ee058cb
In preparation for the launch of the game 🐝 BeeHive, we faced the task again — how our customers who do not have TRX can easily buy it.
We conducted our analysis of services for a quick and easy purchase of TRX and received the following analysis, which we have issued in a kind of rating. We did not consider the purchase of cryptocurrency on the crypto exchanges, because for this there are already many reviews and videos on YouTube, our goal was to find services that allow you to quickly buy the TRX currency in the simplest way, without registrations and additional verifications.
📌 https://www.tronwallet.me/buy-tron-trx — the site of the official Tron wallet, allows you to buy TRX with VISA and MasterCard, ApplePay for $ 25 or less without verification and for amounts more after registration.
As a payment solution, they use the https://carbon.money/ service, which we will discuss in more detail, as well as our experience of working with them, in the next article.
📌 https://indacoin.com is a platform that allows you to buy TRX with VISA and MasterCard, the minimum purchase amount is $ 100 or more.
📌 https://www.bestchange.ru/ — monitoring of exchange services (mainly for the Russian-speaking segment). There is an English version of the site — https://www.bestchange.com/, but it has a much smaller number of exchange directions.
📌 https://coinswitch.co/ — a platform that finds the best options for exchanging Fiat or cryptocurrency for the cryptocurrency you need.
Among the advantages is one of the best courses, the lack of registration and verification, even if the exchange takes place using the Binance exchange.
📌 Services: https://godex.io, https://stealthex.io, https://changenow.io— products of the same type, if not identical, aimed at exchanging one cryptocurrency for another, in our case TRX.
Do not require any verification or registration. The transaction usually takes up to 30 minutes.
📌 https://coingate.com — the ability to buy TRX from an SEPA bank account or by direct bank transfer for countries such as: China, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam. It is possible to buy from Skrill and Neteller accounts, as well as from the account of mobile operators.
📱 For smartphones:
📌 MathWallet.org — wallet allows you to convert your existing cryptocurrency to TRX (SWAP function), bypassing third-party exchange services.
Verification or proof of identity is not needed. You simply create a cryptocurrency wallet for each currency you use (each wallet has its own seed phrase for recovery and can be restored if necessary in any other wallet).
Download: Appstore, Android.
In addition, you can immediately participate in the game BeeHive from this wallet, without any restrictions, because it has a built-in dapp-browser.
📌 Indacoin — a service designed for easy purchase of TRX cryptocurrency (and not only) from credit and debit cards. Verification is not needed but the commission is not particularly low.
Download: Appstore , Android.
📌 Bestchange.ru — monitoring of exchangers (mainly for the Russian-speaking segment). There is an English version of the site — https://www.bestchange.com/, but it has a much smaller number of exchange directions.
In addition, we found many services that allow you to buy cryptocurrency in an easy way, however, at the moment they do not support TRX yet.

Decred Journal – August 2018

Note: you can read this on GitHub (link), Medium (link) or old Reddit (link) to see all the links.

Development

dcrd: Version 1.3.0 RC1 (Release Candidate 1) is out! The main features of this release are significant performance improvements, including some that benefit SPV clients. Full release notes and downloads are on GitHub.
The default minimum transaction fee rate was reduced from 0.001 to 0.0001 DCkB. Do not try to send such small fee transactions just yet, until the majority of the network upgrades.
Release process was changed to use release branches and bump version on the master branch at the beginning of a release cycle. Discussed in this chat.
The codebase is ready for the new Go 1.11 version. Migration to vgo module system is complete and the 1.4.0 release will be built using modules. The list of versioned modules and a hierarchy diagram are available here.
The testnet was reset and bumped to version 3.
Comments are welcome for the proposal to implement smart fee estimation, which is important for Lightning Network.
@matheusd recorded a code review video for new Decred developers that explains how tickets are selected for voting.
dcrwallet: Version 1.3.0 RC1 features new SPV sync mode, new ticket buyer, new APIs for Decrediton and a host of bug fixes. On the dev side, dcrwallet also migrated to the new module system.
Decrediton: Version 1.3.0 RC1 adds the new SPV sync mode that syncs roughly 5x faster. The feature is off by default while it receives more testing from experienced users. Other notable changes include a design polish and experimental Politeia integration.
Politeia: Proposal editing is being developed and has a short demo. This will allow proposal owners to edit their proposal in response to community feedback before voting begins. The challenges associated with this feature relate to updating censorship tokens and maintaining a clear history of which version comments were made on. @fernandoabolafio produced this architecture diagram which may be of interest to developers.
@degeri joined to perform security testing of Politeia and found several issues.
dcrdata: mainnet explorer upgraded to v2.1 with several new features. For users: credit/debit tx filter on address page, showing miner fees on coinbase transaction page, estimate yearly ticket rewards on main page, cool new hamburger menu and keyboard navigation. For developers: new chain parameters page, experimental Insight API support, endpoints for coin supply and block rewards, testnet3 support. Lots of minor API changes and frontend tweaks, many bug fixes and robustness improvements.
The upcoming v3.0 entered beta and is deployed on beta.dcrdata.org. Check out the new charts page. Feedback and bug reports are appreciated. Finally, the development version v3.1.0-pre is on alpha.dcrdata.org.
Android: updated to be compatible with the latest SPV code and is syncing, several performance issues are worked on. Details were posted in chat. Alpha testing has started, to participate please join #dev and ask for the APK.
iOS: backend is mostly complete, as well as the front end. Support for devices with smaller screens was improved. What works now: creating and recovering wallets, listing of transactions, receiving DCR, displaying and scanning QR codes, browsing account information, SPV connection to peers, downloading headers. Some bugs need fixing before making testable builds.
Ticket splitting: v0.6.0 beta released with improved fee calculation and multiple bug fixes.
docs: introduced new Governance section that grouped some old articles as well as the new Politeia page.
@Richard-Red created a concept repository sandbox with policy documents, to illustrate the kind of policies that could be approved and amended by Politeia proposals.
decred.org: 8 contributors added and 4 removed, including 2 advisors (discussion here).
decredmarketcap.com is a brand new website that shows the most accurate DCR market data. Clean design, mobile friendly, no javascript required.
Dev activity stats for August: 239 active PRs, 219 commits, 25k added and 11k deleted lines spread across 8 repositories. Contributions came from 2-10 developers per repository. (chart)

Network

Hashrate: went from 54 to 76 PH/s, the low was 50 and the new all-time high is 100 PH/s. BeePool share rose to ~50% while F2Pool shrank to 30%, followed by coinmine.pl at 5% and Luxor at 3%.
Staking: 30-day average ticket price is 95.6 DCR (+3.0) as of Sep 3. During the month, ticket price fluctuated between a low of 92.2 and high of 100.5 DCR. Locked DCR represented between 3.8 and 3.9 million or 46.3-46.9% of the supply.
Nodes: there are 217 public listening and 281 normal nodes per dcred.eu. Version distribution: 2% at v1.4.0(pre) (dev builds), 5% on v1.3.0 (RC1), 62% on v1.2.0 (-5%), 22% on v1.1.2 (-2%), 6% on v1.1.0 (-1%). Almost 69% of nodes are v.1.2.0 and higher and support client filters. Data snapshot of Aug 31.

ASICs

Obelisk posted 3 email updates in August. DCR1 units are reportedly shipping with 1 TH/s hashrate and will be upgraded with firmware to 1.5 TH/s. Batch 1 customers will receive compensation for missed shipment dates, but only after Batch 5 ships. Batch 2-5 customers will be receiving the updated slim design.
Innosilicon announced the new D9+ DecredMaster: 2.8 TH/s at 1,230 W priced $1,499. Specified shipping date was Aug 10-15.
FFMiner DS19 claims 3.1 TH/s for Blake256R14 at 680 W and simultaneously 1.55 TH/s for Blake2B at 410 W, the price is $1,299. Shipping Aug 20-25.
Another newly noticed miner offer is this unit that does 46 TH/s at 2,150 W at the price of $4,720. It is shipping Nov 2018 and the stats look very close to Pangolin Whatsminer DCR (which has now a page on asicminervalue).

Integrations

www.d1pool.com joined the list of stakepools for a total of 16.
Australian CoinTree added DCR trading. The platform supports fiat, there are some limitations during the upgrade to a new system but also no fees in the "Early access mode". On a related note, CoinTree is working on a feature to pay household bills with cryptocurrencies it supports.
Three new OTC desks were added to exchanges page at decred.org.
Two mobile wallets integrated Decred:
Reminder: do your best to understand the security and privacy model before using any wallet software. Points to consider: who controls the seed, does the wallet talk to the nodes directly or via middlemen, is it open source or not?

Markets

DCR started the month at USD 56 / BTC 0.0073 and had a two week decline. On Aug 14 the whole market took a huge drop and briefly went below USD 200 billion. Bitcoin went below USD 6,000 and top 100 cryptos lost 5-30%. The lowest point coincided with Bitcoin dominance peak at 54.5%. On that day Decred dived -17% and reached the bottom of USD 32 / BTC 0.00537. Since then it went sideways in the USD 35-45 / BTC 0.0054-0.0064 range. Around Aug 24, Huobi showed DCR trading volume above USD 5M and this coincided with a minor recovery.
@ImacallyouJawdy posted some creative analysis based on ticket data.

Relevant External

StopAndDecrypt published an extensive article "ASIC Resistance is Nothing but a Blockchain Buzzword" that is much in line with Decred's stance on ASICs.
The ongoing debates about the possible Sia fork yet again demonstrate the importance of a robust dispute resolution mechanism. Also, we are lucky to have the treasury.
Mark B Lundeberg, who found a vulnerability in atomicswap earlier, published a concept of more private peer-to-peer atomic swaps. (missed in July issue)
Medium took a cautious stance on cryptocurrencies and triggered at least one project to migrate to Ghost (that same project previously migrated away from Slack).
Regulation: Vietnam bans mining equipment imports, China halts crypto events and tightens control of crypto chat groups.
Reddit was hacked by intercepting 2FA codes sent via SMS. The announcement explains the impact. Yet another data breach suggests to think twice before sharing any data with any company and shift to more secure authentication systems.
Intel and x86 dumpsterfire keeps burning brighter. Seek more secure hardware and operating systems for your coins.
Finally, unrelated to Decred but good for a laugh: yetanotherico.com.

My experiences as new investor are mirroring the overall market. Scrambling to Value as small and mid-caps continue to tumble.

Being new to this market feels like riding a roller coaster, which I'm sure is not news to anyone. But over the past few weeks I feel like I'm seeing some distinct trends in the markets that mirror my own experiences, and hopefully can give some insight to the future.
Like a lot of people, I only bought in recently, around the time BTC was leading the national news cycle. But due to the barriers to entry, there was a pronounced delay from when I made the decision to invest and when I could actually put any money in play. The most established Fiat-Crypto exchanges were experiencing 5-10 day delays for new accounts to get verified and funded.
So even though Millions upon Millions of new $ were being committed to Crypto in the last week of December, little of that was hitting the market until Jan 2nd-4th. And when it was, it was coming in through somewhat inexperienced traders like me, who were initially buying the big-cap newsworthy coins (BTC, ETH, XRP) because that's what they had heard about.
Within a few days, I began discovering more Crypto trading resources and exchanges, and information sources like CoinMarketCap and /CryptoCurrency. On Dec 26th, I didn't even know there were legitimate cryptocurrencies out there besides ETH, BTC, and ZEC, and by Jan 2nd I was trading RaiBlocks on BitGrail for fucks sake.
I also made some dumb moves, by chasing micro-priced coins. Everything was going up, and some of the $0.000x coins were popping for 5x, 10x. The strategy of spreading your portfolio in the 10-20 lowest coins on Binance/Kucoin and waiting for one of them to go 10x was a pretty solid move for a few days there. But as quickly as everything was turning to gold, it turned the corner and went to shit. And I'm not surprised at all because the people who had been holding those micro-coins knew they were worthless, so they dumped it before newbies like me knew what hit us.
Since it was the BTC surge, and the ensuing news cycle that built this run, now that those factors are reversed, it is naturally leading to a reversal of the trend. BTC goes from $20k to a new support level of $13k-$14k. A word search for "Bitcoin" on either CNN.com or BBC.co.uk no longer appears in any headlines. The fire underneath the market is gone. Unless those factors flip again, we are not going to see a swift recovery of the past week's losses, especially not for the small-cap and shillcoins that only benefited from the market surge, not their own fundamentals. I for one, am not on board with all those saying "buy back now, its not a correction, its a discount!" I see the Global Crypto Market Cap continuing to fall, maybe by another 10-20%, before stabilizing and staying flat until the next major shake-up.
But for me the silver lining is that there are now thousands (maybe millions) of new players on the field, like me. Many of us are younger, internet-savvy, and eager to learn and participate in the growing movement. Once this correction has run its course, I believe there will be much more established fundamentals emerging in the market. People will still pump and dump, like they have for generations with stocks, bonds, tulips, orange juice futures, etc. but currencies that have real-world uses and fundamentals will rise and fall in value predictably along with the market's interpretation of them, just like wall street does with publicly traded companies.
And just because the total market cap is contracting, does not mean all coins will be losers. I don't think there is very much fiat currency actually leaving the system, its just being panic-traded out of speculative coins back into more established currencies at more reasonable prices.
If people like me are the model for a new generation of Crypto-traders, then here is what I'm doing as a reaction to the crash.

1: Get out of any project that doesn't have a real-world use today, or a major development milestone within the next week or two. Get out of any "decentralized currency" coin besides the top 5.

2: Focus on a baseline established currency (BTC, ETH are easiest) and re-calibrate my thinking to maximize my BTC balance, instead of my USD balance. Not that BTC is the only reasonable currency of exchange, but until something changes, its still the safest and most stable.

3: Think global, and actively seek the latest and best information. Just because the US is cooling down doesn't mean China, Korea, Japan, India, Russia, Europe, Singapore, Vietnam may not be heating up. And know which coins get boosted by which news.

4: For Blockchain/Crypto projects, stay up to date on news and development. Try to get on their Slack, follow their Twitter, get on Telegram. And don't fall in love with them. If there is a competitor with a better product, better team, faster dev, or cheaper price, make the smart move.

5: There will be another run. It won't be as big, it may not last as long, and it may not happen for a while, but it will come. So be ready with some cash to throw around, a solid strategy to get in, and more importantly a plan to get back out on the other end.

Crypto Recap March 6: BTC Sellers Take Control, Support at $10k Back in Focus

Market Summary
As seen in CoinLive News Terminal.
A reality check for crypto traders, as the return of Bitcoin sellers sent a reminder of the state of affairs in the market. An environment dominated by unconvincingly feeble buy-side interest as we've been flagging up in recent times, with Google searches for Bitcoin and other related keywords at depressed levels, where a Bitcoin transaction takes one block to confirm and with a network value assigned to Bitcoin incongruent to the number of transactions through the network.
It looks as though the damage done to the multitude of retail accounts buying into the hype of the irrational exuberance in December has forced many to jump ship on the idea of re-engaging in buying cryptos even at current discounted prices. Throw into the mix the unclear regulatory landscape, and the absence of sufficient institutional capital flows, not yet coming in the amounts to make a distinctive difference, and it's easier to understand why the overall interest in cryptos has been on the decline.
Scanning through the top cryptos, as repeatedly mentioned, Bitcoin remains the magnet the rest of the Alts complex follows, and as a result, the 6% drop in BTC value led to similar negative percentage moves, with the exception of Vechain, up 4%. The total market value saw a slide from near $470b to currently stand at $440b. Despite the reduction in Bitcoin prices, the asset's dominance holds steady above the 40%, highest in 2018, which firms up the notion of a Bitcoin cycle phase.
